The protective measures for buried optical cables should be in accordance with the design specifications and meet the following requirements:

1) When optical cable lines cross railways and highways without excavating the road surface, the top-down method is adopted. The top pipe should be kept straight, and the specifications and position of the steel pipe should meet the design requirements. The position where soil is allowed to break can be protected by burying the pipe. When the top pipe or burying the protective pipe, the pipe mouth should be blocked.

2) When the optical cable line passes through machine plowed roads, rural roads, urban areas, residential areas, or movable land sections, it should be constructed according to the protection methods required by the design. When laying red bricks above the optical cable, 20 centimeters of crushed soil should be covered first before laying the red bricks vertically. When laying two optical cables in the same trench, red bricks should be laid horizontally.

3) When optical cable lines pass through ditches, channels, and ponds with dredging and fertilization, cement boards or sandbags should be covered above the optical cable for protection.

4) When the optical cable passes through ditches, ridges, and terraces over 0.8 meters (including 0.8 meters), slope protection should be carried out according to the design requirements. When crossing ditches and ridges below 0.8 meters, unless otherwise required by the design, slope protection is generally not done, but layered compaction is carried out to restore the original state.

5) Optical cable lines passing through termite activity areas should be treated with anti termite measures according to regulations.

6) The lightning protection measures for optical cable lines shall be handled in accordance with the design specifications. When using lightning protection drainage lines, a single or double drainage line should be laid 30 centimeters above the optical cable; When excavating and laying optical cables again due to reasons after backfilling, strictly check whether the drainage line is located above the optical cable, and it is strictly prohibited to reverse it.
