Precautions for transportation and storage of wires and cables

2025-07-30 15:34:00

1. During transportation, power cables should avoid falling from heights. It is prohibited to throw wires and cables from heights during loading and unloading, especially under low temperature conditions. The insulation and protective sleeves of wires and cables are brittle and hard, and falling from heights can cause cracking of the insulation and protective sleeves.

2. When packaging wires and cables, several cable reels should not be lifted simultaneously to avoid dangerous accidents. The cable reel should be placed reasonably and fixed on transportation vehicles such as vehicles and ships to prevent damage to wires and cables caused by shaking or collision during transportation.

3. If the storage time of wires and cables is long, it is necessary to roll the cable reel appropriately. The rolling cycle is about three months, and the specific time can be set according to the situation. During the rolling process of wires and cables, attention should be paid to rolling the downward stored edge to the top, which can prevent the edge of a certain part of the coil from being located below for a long time and becoming damp and rotten.

4. The insulation and protective covers of wires and cables are mostly made of rubber products, which cannot withstand excessive sunlight exposure. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid placing wires and cables in open places as much as possible, and cable reels are not allowed to be laid flat.

5. Wires and cables generally have poor properties and are strictly prohibited from coming into contact with acidic, alkaline, mineral oil substances. If they must be placed in close proximity to corrosive substances during transportation, they must be isolated. The storage warehouse for wires and cables prohibits the presence of substances that damage the insulation protection layer of wires and cables, as well as corrosive gases.

6. Wires and cables are also products with a shelf life. Generally speaking, wires and cables should be used within their shelf life. If the shelf life has expired, it should not exceed one and a half years, and it should not exceed two years. Wires and cables should be checked regularly during storage.
